The winner will in some way be honored on Life Hound. If a few days go by and the famous person hasn't been identified. I will add hints to the posting until we have a winner!
Can you identify this famous person?! If so, add a comment below!
HINT 1 (posted 2/19/07) - O.K. This may be a tough one. This leader was know for his cruelty. He got his kicks by dropping dogs off the Kremlin wall.
HINT 2 (posted 2/20/07) This guy was a Russian Czar.
Congratulations to Randy Z from North Carolina for correctly identifying this Russian historical figure! Check out his comment below for the correct answer.

I would have to say that would be Ivan the Terrible from 1547 to 1584. He died at age 54 miserable and alone. Ironically, he was very much involved in religion. Followed orthodox rituals and attended chruch regularly.

Even still you can't help find some compassion. He was definately trained as a child. From the first part of the article.

"What happens when a child is orphaned, then raised with abuse and ill attention? When a wife dies, and leaves the husband distraught? When a country is led by a hypocrite in the name of God? And most crucially, what happens when the focus of all these events happens upon the same man? Basically, what we have here is a recipe for a monster. "

You can deal with lifes hardships the way Ivan did, or put your trust in Christ.
